The aliens came to Earth not for conquest, but simply to create a war and watch it be played out by humans. But they are prohibited from using any technology not developed on the planet - and 20th-century armaments are too primitive for good sport.
The answer? To persuade the Air Force Chief of Staff to found a think-tank group under their secret guidance for the development of 22nd-century technology. If Jan Ambers, an electronics expert-turned-warrior, cannot stop them, the result will be global devastation...

Flyers of Condor

A couple are thrown together seemingly by chance, but it seems there are no coincidences.
They were brought together because it is time, once again, for them to try and save the planet from another ages-old cycle of reversal.
Previous attempts had resulted in failure but with the help of some Native American spirits and ghosts from their past, it might work this time. A few hints from the "watchers" doesn't hurt, either.
And it is not just the physical aspects they have to overcome: there are those opposed to the success of their mission. As in all great games, there is an opposition team. Some will profit greatly if the world fails.
The ending of the cycle is rapidly approaching and the couple, joined by "old friends" from the past make the last great push toward success.
Hopefully, they have all the pieces in place.

Tervan Andrisn arrives at the Imperial Academy on a math scholarship though he does not have any interest in the subject. His math ability is more intuitive than mechanical, but he uses this opportunity to get a higher education and take up his chosen field of teaching somewhere back on his home planet.
As happens frequently in such situations, he meets a young woman and sparks fly. As the relationship develops, politics intervenes in the form of the Crown Prince being murdered. She reveals that her brother has been named the new heir to the Empire and she fears they will be forced apart. How could he not know she was a princess? Easy, her mother was only a concubine of the Emperor - and he had more than a few of those, each with children - and was made the legitimate wife when her son was named heir.
The Emperor insists they must not grow further together, so she and Tervan plan to elope. As you can imagine, the Emperor takes a dim view of this situation. They are captured and he is exiled. How can they ever be together?
Simple: he merely has to return and overthrow the Emperor.

The Evidence for the Existence of the Mythological United States
by
Norman X. Scozzafova
Copyright © 2010 by Norman X. Scozzafova
Tales of a mythological country persisted through the earlier stages of history, tales of a powerful - and some say, magical - land existed where the present countries bear no resemblance to that mythical land. As time progressed, the stories were relegated to fantasy and are rarely spoken of in the modern world. But still the stories persist, even if only spoken of by those far removed from academia.
Saktarin Danels, a reputable historian, places his reputation on the line by embarking on a serious study of the mythological United States. Starting with all the textual data we currently have in the archives from previous archaeological excavations, including some rather fanciful - and disproven - myths from the past, he examines the stories for their similarities, even though some are geographically far removed from others, as well as their differences.
Then he examines any physical anomalies that have come down to us. There are not very many of these but enough to cause one to wonder if there cannot be something in the old stories.
Then he ventures into new territory by researching the archives of the Braxia (a religious order based on the life and works of Anaboraxus, a mystic in the 6th century before our time). This evidence leads Saktarin on a real mystery quest to unearth not only a discrepancy in the Braxia's interpretations but the location of an ancient ruin found by the mystic himself some six hundred years ago.
This discovery alone may not mean much but when added to all the other evidence presented in the volume, one can see that Saktarin may have revived a scholarly interest in the debate.
An interesting read for students of history as well as the casual reader with an interest in the ancient myths.

Anaboraxus: the Young Wizard
by
Norman X. Scozzafova
Copyright © 2010 by Norman X. Scozzafova
Anaboraxus was the youngest son of a farmer who really does not have enough land to portion out to another family member, so he acquires an apprenticeship for his son in the Imperial Capital of Vriamidon. The lad travels with a poet band going in that direction and becomes enamored with the life of a traveling poet. But that life is cut short when the poets are set upon by vigilantes (this because of the poets' other occupation: theft).
Left for dead, the young Anaboraxus flees into a nearby wood and finds a place to hide, thinking his life is over.
Unknown to him, there are people nearby alert to his problem and venture forth from their underground lair to help him. After some consternation with other tribe members, he is offered a place among them and the opportunity to learn their craft: magic!
He also learns the reason for their living underground: they are hiding from their mortal enemies. An elder tells him of the older days when two tribes existed side by side: the Piesuref, an evil group, and the Langstroma, a righteous one. Anaboraxus is appalled to find out the good people that have taken him in are not the Langstroma, but the evil Piesuref!
But that was ancient history, and now they have become a good and righteous people. But the Langstroma want to destroy them still.
They survive an attack from above but Anaboraxus realizes he was probably the agent of their discovery. He vows to help save the tribe and to personally discover why the continuing ancient animosity and try to remove it.
