Col. Percy Fawcett disappeared in the Amazon in the 1930's searching for the lost - and highly theoretical - city of 'Z'. He disappeared on the venture.
His son, Brian, returned to find him but without any success. A generation later, the grandson, Keith, is summoned back to recover the bones of the missing explorer, along with some personal effects.
Now, the great-grandson, Brandon Fawcett, a forensic anthropologist, points out that the skull cannot have been that of the ancestral explorer.
They return again to the Amazon to see if they can find out the source of the erroneous bones and perhaps find the fabled lost city, or at least find out what really happened to the Colonel.
